Meet

Gustav Roux

Reserve Manager: Gustav grew up on a farm in the Free State which moulded his work ethic and character. After reading too many Wilbur Smith novels and Magnum magazines, he chose to study Game Ranch Management in 2002 at Technikon Pretoria. His keen interest in ecology and vegetation led to the completion of his B-Tech degree in Game Ranch Management in 2006.

His career started with Ground Hornbill research but soon changed course to general conservation management. He spent eight years in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve which formed the basis of his conservation and research interest. Further experience includes the management of a private luxury game ranch in Eastern Freestate, irrigation and sheep farming and a large cattle farm in Mozambique. He was drawn to the Nkomazi Game Reserve, because of the vegetation diversity where different landscapes and biomes meet.
